Numbers Poem
Think of three numbers that are significant to you for some reason. Then, write a poem of 150 words or more that explores the significance of those numbers. For example, the number 3 is significant to me because I feel that everything in life can be divided into 3: beginning, middle and end. The number 27 is significant to me because it is both the year I got married and the year that many of my favorite musicians died. The number 34 is significant to me because it is the year of life in which I finished my first novel, something I felt I would never do. Have fun with this. It is due at the end of the period.

The number 15 is significant to me because at that age I learned a lot about people.
ReplyDeleteAt 15 I learned who that losing people isn’t a terrible thing.
At 15 I learned that things that are odd can be things that are great.
At 15 I learned that even though you may think surrounded by sheep a wolf will always be hidden in the flock.
15 has taught me that those that really matter will make the effort to stay in your life.
The number 2014 is significant to me because that’s the year that my life was shifted.
I was put through the hardest things I could ever experience in my life.
Still at this moment I am battling with 2014 and still trying to come out on top.

A year that has been so cruel and rewarding to me.
This number is significant to me because it is so bitter sweet.
The number 16 is significant to me because it’s the age my eyes were opened.
16 is when I had to grow up and throw away childish things.
16 is when I had to take on a brand new form of responsibility.
16 is not an age I will or could ever forget.

Around 14 years ago, I went to a pre-school called “Busy Bee.”
6th grade, was the first year a received a C
6 isn’t as significant number as 2008
In that year, I came to school late
I started on a clean slate
I went fishing and used bait
2008 was my first year of middle school
As I walked inside the lunch room, I thought I was cool
And it turned out I really was
Things were swell
I left school after the bell
2008 was a great year
During that year, I wasn’t allowed to drink beer
I played my music so loud, I couldn’t hear
Anything outside of my music accept for thunder
96, 17, 2008; those are my favorite numbers

ReplyDeleteIf you multiply 2 by 6, which is amount of times I have gone to disney, you get 12, which is my favorite number.
I only have two first cousins.
Also, I only have had two pets, a dog and a ferret
The number 5 is significant to me because I am a family of five.
That is how many times I have left country so far in my life.
May is a month away from my birthday.
A camp that my family owns has 5 cabins in it.
The number 16 is significant to me because I traveled to England for my sixteenth birthday.
The number is a charm on my Pandora charm bracelet that I have had since eighth grade.
If you divide 16 by 2, you get 8, which is my current class ranking.
16 is when I started driving.
The number 2008 is significance to me because my father passed away and i miss him so much, If i could bring him back i would he would be so proud of me that i'm graduating from High School this year and i'm going to the army. I’m going to accomplish all my goals in life that i need to achieve.
ReplyDeleteThe number 2012 is significance to me because i have lost my cousin Teona in a fatal car accident. Me losing another loved one was very emotional for me. I was truly hurt and devastated, i couldn’t deal with it. I go to visit her grave at any spare time i get. Me going to go visit her grave and placing flowers upon her tombstone makes me feel amazing. she was one of my closest cousins that i became closer with among the time i became older to understand what was going on in the big world.
The number i found significance is the number 16 , this was important to me because i had a surprised sweet 16 birthday party it was amazing. My family and friends were there for me. I was happy to actually see the age of 16 because some teens do not see the age that i have seen. Life is to short, I enjoyed myself with my family and friends it was the best time of my whole entire life.

ReplyDeleteI am in a good mood today because it is Thursday and tomorrow Friday. I’m so excited for this weekend because on Sunday it is my god daughters birthday party she would be 1 years old on Tuesday. I am so excited for her birthday party its going to be the best time of my life to see her happy. I got her a birthday present and it was golden earrings that i brought for her months before. I’m so happy for this day to finally come.she is a wonderful and amazing baby. I remember when she started walking for the first time tears were rolling down my eyes, I couldn't believe it time was flying so fast i remember when i held her for the first time. I am so excited that i get to spend time with her.
Doing a free write is to me one of the most complicated assignments. This isn’t because of the word length or even the due date. No, a free write is difficult to me because you can write about anything. The fact that you can write down whatever you want is...frightening. It makes me sit here and critique myself. I end up wondering what is really good enough to hand in. Is my poem good enough? Is my story good enough? Is my summary about life good enough? Will my random rambling be good enough for you? Is this itty bitty rant good enough? These are the thoughts that haunt me while I’m typing. Call it writer’s curse or worrying thoughts. Either way free writes make my hair stand on end. So you know what I’m just gonna end it here. I’m just gonna say this rant is perf. So, yeah, free writes are complicated and stressful. Adios!

ReplyDelete20 is significant to me because it is the number of the day one of my hero’s was born.
It is also significant to me because it the age my parents met at. 20 is the age where freedom and responsibility really come into part. But not everyone makes it to 20, people’s lives are cut short, and sometimes they want it to, other times people don’t want it to. It’s just chance.
14 is important to me, it is how old I am, and it is the year I decided I was going to be myself no matter what anybody thinks. I was 14 when I started high school, and I was terrified, I’m no longer terrified, just a little nervous about coming into this building everyday and being considered a young adult. Growing old scares me, I don’t want to be older than about 16 because I feel that I can’t reach people’s expectations of me. Growing up is terrifying to me and I honestly don’t want to do it.
1991; it is the year the person who saved my life was born. Now he’s a famous musician, and many people don’t like him, but he has saved my life more times than I can count on both of my hands. He’s my life line, and people just don’t understand. My parents just think it is a phase, but to me it is so much more. They don’t realize how many nights I’ve cried myself to sleep, or felt insecure about myself, or even how I viewed myself until I started listening to the music that has since kept me alive.
Don't grow up, grow out, as in just think of it as expanding your horizons.

ReplyDeletethis and is important to me cause this is also a year . This was a huge year for me because for me that was my make or break year for me this was my second year of taking seventh grade because the year before i stayed back . so this was the breaking point i had to pass this year this would decide my future i was already a grade behind all my friends that i grew up with . getting over the fact that when it came to high school i would not be graduating with them . But that was motivation for me to do good and do my work . This was also the year that i started dating the most amazing girl that have ever meet and i knew she would want me to do good so i did i worked hard and stayed focus for her and all of my friends .also this was a big year because this is when eminem came back in the rap and his is a huge influence in my life because i can relate to thing that he says and he helped me get through hard times in my life . the music gave me strength and willpower to keeping fighting and grinding .
