Ekphrastic

An exphrastic is a poem that is inspired by another form of art, such as a painting, sculpture or photograph.  Your assignment today is to construct one of these.  It must be at least 100 words.  It is due at the end of the period.

  2. He left
He left and will never come back
Will never come back and it is hurting
It is hurting because death is near
Death is near because they cannot afford bread or even cake
They cannot afford bread or even cake without him
Without him the throne is lost
The throne is lost when the heir dies
When the heir dies his legacy will be gone
His legacy will be gone as the queen and prince die
The queen and prince die as the royals are overthrown
The royals are overthrown with the death of the king
With the death of the king he looks upon his suffering family
He looks upon his suffering family as he lives in the underworld
He lives in the underworld as the tears flow down his face

  4. A beautiful, carefully structured painting
Some poeple might say it’s amazing
Picasso is one of my favorite artists, I’m just saying
I have one of his paintings right next my bed
The outline is drawn with a pencil that had a lot of led
It was a painting my grandmother gave me
In art class, I tried to copy it and got a B
    I knew I wasn’t going to get a C
Painting is something I struggle at
I get frustrated and want to hit my artwork with a bat
One time I drew my Cat
I am not as good as Picasso

This photograph, takes what we think of as a normal item; and turns it into a work of art.
This photograph, turns a normal fruit, into a fantastic piece of art.
It shows that the simple, red, round, apple could be an amazing thing that millions of people will look at before the apple turns brown and soft.
The intricate designs of the skin taken from the apple are telling a story of its own.
I believe the apple peeling is telling a story, to me it looks like Snow White picking an apple, ready to eat it.
