The haiku is a three-line poem with a specific syllable
count (5,7,5) in each line. Traditionally, these poems were meant to express a
simple truth, and usually incorporated nature. You may write your haikus on any
topic you like.

DeleteWith age comes freedom
ReplyDeleteThe freedom to develop
And become your own
To be man’s best friend
Is a huge obligation
Respect your canine
It’s hard to believe
That it’s really senior year
It’s really the end
To find what you want
Something you’ve been searching for
It is true magic
The grass, green and moist
And the air that’s warm and dry
In their grasp I belong
Rebellion is key
It’s a part of who we are
Everyone does it
Life is so special
But it’s taken for granted
Life is meant to live
The smell of your hair
And your arms around my waist
It’s where I belong
Life is a chess game
We make our moves cautiously
And hope they were right
Chuck’s not here today
Sorry this haiku is bad
The others were good
About alf of these are great. The rest make me want to have some plant time for myself.
DeleteFurious Battles
ReplyDeleteTormenting the land each day
Fueling the worlds law
Shining light in day
Growing many fruits of peace
Creating Serenity
Tranquility speaks
With everlasting Authority
Making a Beauty
War ravages earth
Scorched in a full battle array
Deciding Society
Juicy fruits attract all
Splendid flavors emitting love
Without a flaw in sight
Developing angry tunes
To play at the battles end
And disperse the evil
Born in today’s society
Shameful music and food
Without reputation
Silly dog made with fun
Scampering around the home
With respect to all
Abby typing hard
To write her poem with ease
To be the next idol
Final poem, to write
To conclude my day in awe
To be a better man
I love how eclectic these poems are. You have a very unique voice as a poet. Great job.
DeleteThe days feel so long
ReplyDeleteNights are even longer now
I’m at a great lost
I’m still in great shock
Hopelessness is in full effect
Trying not to believe it
Wanting to go back
Sadly I can’t reverse time
Only can I go forward
Things are all scrambled
Life’s directing me to go up
But I only see down
Looking at all negatives
Life’s about looking at the positives
However I see none
I’m lost in the dark
I’m wanting to find the light
I get knocked down
They try to help me
But their help doesn’t cut it
I need a miracle
There is no such thing
Wishing on miracles is a waste
They just won’t come true
I need to get out
I’m in search of an escape
Why can’t I find one?
I’m craving the light
I try to keep my head up
It’s just so very hard.
"great loss"
DeleteI really like the line "craving the light."
These poems really evoke a sense of desperation. Nicely done.
I’m still in great loss
DeleteHopelessness is in full effect
Trying not to believe it
Hard hitting players
ReplyDeleteThe intensity builds up
As the game winds down
Cranking the deep ball
Baseball was my first true love
I feel so at home
Fast break down the floor
As the clock nears the buzzer
I capture the win
Sitting by the fire
Warming up with hot chocolate
On cold winter nights
Flying down the road
The wind in my face so cold
Cherishing the thrill
Blocking every shot
Nobody scores in my paint
I am Mutombo
Running you over
Telling you to try harder
Is not very nice
Blowing you away
I need to be dominant
Strike fear in their eyes
I just love to win
To be the best you must win
That is what drives me
Why would you not fight?
How will you be remembered?
Will you leave your mark?
I love the Mutumbo reference. I can see you waving the finger in the air.
DeleteIn the dark we sit,
ReplyDeleteWe stare but we cannot see.
We’re vulnerable.
Two broken pieces,
Trying to come together.
Painfully they fit.
It’s time for goodbye.
Or maybe see you later.
Is it the right time?
Happily dreaming,
And wishing to be living,
In old memories.
A baby nephew,
And another on the way
Life’s best miracle.
She’s fluffy and curled
A bundle of happiness,
My puppy, Lila.
Procrastinating
ReplyDeleteUnwillingly wasting time
A very bad choice.
Clueless-ly waiting
For a blind future to come.
I wish to be found.
Nothing is promised.
Except for the memories
Keep lots of pictures.
So much love for you,
It’s irreplaceable love.
Love for you, my mom.
Numbers 1 and 8 are my favorite. Most of these are really good. Good work.
Delete1.) A smoky delight.
ReplyDeleteHot dogs roasting on the grill
Arrest my senses.
2.) Red and reflective,
Glass balls dangle on the tree
And warm all our hearts.
3.) The echoing blasts
Ringing through my very brain
Keep me calm and sane.
4.) The surface can’t break,
For what’s beneath it is strong,
And its contents, too.
5.) Plump, rounded veggies
Remind us of warmer days.
The cycle drags on.
6.) Crackling of shrubs
Forewarn the bear’s arrival.
Now the forest knows.
7.) With nowhere to go,
More limitations arise,
And peace is hidden.
8.) Zipping through the sky,
The plane dives up, down, around.
Air forever touched.
9.) The thunder, which roars,
Reverberates in my soul.
A changed horizon.
10.) The bees unify.
Harmonizing their buzzes,
Morphing into one.
I love the dichotomy between the ringing blasts and the idea of it being calming.
DeleteWhat we want in life
ReplyDeleteIs simple to find, but we
Must work to get it
What is love; when we
Care enough to let them be
Or too much not to?
Voices enter through
Our ears and to our minds, so
We can be enriched
The gales of autumn
Can move the leaves and water
But can they move us?
If time were human
And it could converse with us
What would it tell us?
What wonder it is
When we awake to a day
That knows our struggles!
When words flow like light
Into a dark room, they take
Form in salvation
Hatred and love are
Joined by passion, and they
Consummate within
Color fills our eyes;
It adds depth to the world, so
What colors have you?
Our feet lead, eyes see
Hands feel, tongues taste, but how why can’t
They know what we know?
These are all very good. 4 6 and 8 are my favorites. You really tapped into the idea of raising something profound.
DeleteSummer is over
ReplyDeleteI like the weather in fall
The fall is the best
Trey songz is perfect
I’m going to marry him
I love him so much
Christmas is coming
A time of joy, peace and love
The snow is pretty
I don’t like writing
I’d rather be in art class
I like to draw things
I don’t like my house
My family makes me mad
I want to move out
The alarm clock rang
The sound annoying and loud,
But it woke me up.
Puppies are so cute
Warm, sweet and adorable
They make me happy
Happy Halloween!
Everyone is in costumes
People eat candy
The bees are outside
Beautiful flowers are back
The bees like flowers
School goes by so slow
I don’t like being at school
I am so tired.
Come on, use that brilliant mind of yours. This sounds like you are on autopilot
DeleteExtra:
ReplyDeleteIt’s so dark and I think that I only can see one person. Someone puts their hand over my mouth and grab me from the back. I don’t know what’s going on but I struggle. As much as I can to try and get free, with no avail. It’s like that time a long time ago.
“NOOO! I don’t want to go!” I shouted. I was young and didn’t want to leave my family.
“Come one you little brat.” The man’s grip tightened and I screamed out in pain. I struggled. I struggled so much but I wasn’t able to get out of his grasp. When our city was bombed all families were put back together. So was mine, but since I was the oldest one that was one of the last people to leave the village, I was going to be questioned on what I saw. I didn’t want to go because I didn’t know. I was terrified about what was going to happen. I was being ripped from my family for three weeks to go to a camp and get questioned. I had just gone through the experience of my home being destroyed right in front of me and now they wanted me to answer questions. I was only eight and my heart was just shattered by that experience. I struggled so hard but never got out. My family was gone and I was alone. No one knows what I went through in those three weeks, and no one should ever know.
“mmmmmhmmmm!” My screams are muffled and my tears strong. I struggle until the person holding my throws me on the ground. I get the wind knocked out of me and I feel a foot on my stomach.
“Listen girl. If you want to stay alive you better not tell anyone that we’re out here. If you do…you’ll be dead meat.” I raspy voice growls in my face and take his foot off of me. Fear over runs my curiosity and I run back into the girl’s side of the Center. I run to the bathroom and look at me face in the mirror. It stings like crazy when put a cold towel on the place I was hit from the floor. I walk slowly into the dorm room and back to my bed, making sure that no one knew I was up. I slip under my covers and fall back asleep. I dream of horrors and terror of what the people were doing out in the main room.
"throws me"
DeleteThis is very entertaining. Good descriptive writing.
Ryan P. Tunison
ReplyDeleteThe stroke of a pen
To the crisp edge of parchment
A writer’s thoughts fly
Binding lies ajar
Eyes hover across each page
Now wake your genius
Dancing in twilight
Darkness brings truth as light blinds
Now in death comes love
Now the stain of roses
Will shine red against your skin
Shame covers your arms
Ignominy shields love
To stall is to fall craven
Truth remains unspoken
Lost in Savannah
Knowledge doubts courage in love
Youth does not factor
A new attraction
As a youth you are fickle
Now swallow your shame
Asleep in the grass
With a lover too shameful
Inescapable
The stage creaks too loud
Piercing the deep quietus
Of nonexistence
Carry Her far away
Till the sirens cease tonight
And forevermore
These are great. The second to last one is my favorite. They all conjure a similar mood.

Ships sailed the sea shore
ReplyDeletePirates rode aboard these ships
Looking for the land
In ominous light
Stood a young boy clothed in black
Waiting for his time
Her baby blue eyes
Hid the secrets of past lives
That no one knew of
In the light she stood,
in dark stood a shattered soul
Who are you to judge?
Where is my pizza?
I think it's in my stomach
I'm still hungry, merp
Her eyes but marbles
Sparkled with each glimpse of sun
She was a beauty
Shadows In the night
Stood for monsters of all kinds
To the young children
The crisp winter air
Bit at her skin with such force
She was shivering
The crib felt empty
A baby lies alone, scared
She begins to cry
I give up mrs. Ell
I can't think of another
At least I finished.

ReplyDeleteThe wind blows roughly,
ReplyDeleteThe trees drop tons of acorns,
The ground is attacked.
The earthquake begins,
The ground shakes intesively,
The buildings rumble.
Her heart beats loudly,
The hot sweat runs down her face,
She is running fast.
The sun shines brightly,
There’s hot sand between my toes,
The blue wave crashes.
Red, pink, yellow, brown,
Crunch, the leaves under your feet
The leaves surround you.
The dog limps over,
The dog has a broken back,
Try to comfort him.
White, black, tan, and brown,
The bunnies are very cute,
They eat their carrots.
I looked up to see
The bird soar across the sky,
It was beautiful.
The violent river,
Was a perfect funnel for
the rushing water.
A white blanket of
Snow covered the flat ground and
Made the world look cold.
Good job. These are very good.
DeleteLeaves changing colors
ReplyDeleteCold, crispy, calm wind everywhere
Autumn has arrived
Sweet, soothing, warm, tasty
Better than hot chocolate
Apple cider, yum!
Cool, calm, relaxing
Raindrops fall all around me
Walking in the rain
Life is beautiful
Often taken for granted
Learn to enjoy it
In a crowded room
Yet feeling lonely, upset
But no one takes notice
Familiar faces
Unfamiliar behaviors,
All so deceiving
A woman’s kind heart
Full of many deep secrets
Forever keep them
Anger and sadness
Built up inside, no escape
How to move forward?
Patiently waiting
But when will the change arrive?
Slowly losing hope
Started off as happy
Slowly progressed to sadness
Why must that be so?
1. The month December

9. The best artist Drake
I love listening to him
Has many mottos
10. My favorite mottos
No new friends’ motto
You only live once
The sun starts to set
ReplyDeleteDarkness flooding over me
It’s a cold embrace
Fire spreads everywhere
Destruction is unending
Rubble in its wake
The seed of life sits
Defenseless and unguarded
It must be nurtured
A pillar of fire
The ultimate of cleansings
To begin anew
A shattered mirror
The mirror or the viewer
Which one is broken?
A fork in the road
One could lead to great riches
But will it end there
The light from a star
The most beautiful of sights
Could have met its end
Oppression with fear
Never ending loyalty
But none with respect
The ties that may bind
Can easily be broken
With a simple word
The past can’t be changed
So why do we dwell on it?
