Decide which elements of the original story to change or twist. Here are suggestions (you can always come up with your own):
- Time: Set the story in the present or future, instead of "once upon a time, a long, long time ago." Think about Peter Pan flying over today's NYC, for example.
- Location: Set the story in a different country, region, or city. Imagine Rapunzel set in Los Angeles or British Columbia or outback Australia.
- Gender: Change the gender of the main character for a new slant. Perhaps Rumpelstiltskin is a mischievous, grumpy female dwarf, or Cinderella is a modern day janitor.
- Ending: Keep the original elements but change the ending.

There was once a girl who was roaming around the suburbs of mid-west America. She lost her way from her home in the down town of the town she lived in. She didn’t have a care in the world and just kept skipping along. She was as carefree a person as anyone could possibly be. All day she kept moving along further and further away from her home town. She though that she would be able to find her way back before night descended upon the world, but that was not the case. She kept on getting further and further away until she came upon farm land. This was a new area for her to explore and she wasn’t going to give up this chance. She kept walking until she came upon a little farm cottage with no other houses in sight. It was dark now and she was quite hungry.
ReplyDeleteThe lights were on in the home and she went to the front door and knocked. “Hello, is anyone home?” No response came from the home so she tried the door knob. It turned and opened to reveal a living room with a flat screen TV with a twelve point buck’s head mounted on the wall above the TV. “Wow this is a lovely home. Is anyone here?” She called out again, and again there was no reply.
She walked through the house to find more stuffed corpses of animals and multiple gun cabinets holding a wide array of weapons, from civilian shotguns to military assault rifles. Soon she found herself in the kitchen of the strange owners of this home. There were three bowls of stew on the table she took a sip of the first and said, “This is too hot.” She moved onto the next one, took a sip, and said, “This one’s too cold.” She moved to the last bowl, took a sip and said, “This one’s just right.” She then finished the remaining contents of the bowl.
She then felt a grumbling in her stomach and ran for the nearest bathroom. She sat on the first toilet she found and said, “This one’s too hard.” She ran to the bathroom next to that one, took a seat on the toilet and said, “This one’s too cold.” She ran to the last bathroom down the hall and plopped down on the toilet and exclaimed, “This one’s perfect!” Then she released the contents of her bowls into the toilet.
She started wandering the house again and came upon three beds; she laid down in the first one and said, “This one’s too firm.” She moved on to the next one and said, “This one’s too soft.” She went to the last one and laid down and said, “This one’s perfect.” She then fell asleep.
She was woken by the sound of a door crashing down stairs. Then she heard voices, the first one said, “Someone ate my stew.” Then another voice came from the bathrooms, “Someone forgot to flush and it reeks.” Then the final voice came from in the room, “Someone’s in my bed Pa.” The girl sprang from the bed and dashed through the door trying to get away from the men. The one at the door tried to grab here but missed. He then took the knife from his belt and threw it and barely missed her.
She made it down the stairs and saw the other two people at the stairs with loaded guns pointed at her. She tried to run but they pulled the triggers and the little girl was no more. One went over to the body and said, “That’s what you get for breaking and entering.”
The End
I laughed out loud at this one. Sweet!
DeleteI was once an outcast. The despised one. The one everyone hated. But I was beautiful. My hair, my eyes, my whole complexion. It was all perfect. And they were all jealous.
ReplyDeleteI was born in a town known as Herlev in Denmark. Herlev was different from the rest of the world. Our town was composed of ugly people. Everything about them was hideous. But nobody made fun of each other or commented on their horrendous appearances, because everyone was the same. Except me. When I was born, the elders wanted to sacrifice me and my parents. Though all my brothers and sisters were ugly like the town, they didn’t want the genes to be carried on and they didn’t want my life to be unfair. But they spared our lives and I matured into a beautiful girl. But everywhere I walked, people stopped, stared, laughed, and threatened me. They hated those who were different. And I hated being different.
School was difficult. I was made fun of and beaten every day. But I knew there was nothing I could do. So I took the hits. Until I got the courage one day to run away from Herlev. I found a civilization in nearby Rowana. A kind and attractive family took me in and called me their own. I loved that life and was happy to finally be with people like me. But one day, they found me out. I was wearing a shirt that my adoptive sister loaned me. I had never worn anything but sleeved tops. I didn’t think anything of the skimpy straps. But when I walked downstairs, they saw the Herlev mark branded into my back. Every child in Herlev was trademarked with the national symbol when they were born. Upon seeing the mark, my sister ripped the shirt off of me and my father pushed me out the door. Nobody but Herlevians like a child from the village.
I was alone again. I had found another shirt to cover my mark, making sure the note was kept in my mind to never reveal it again. Isolation was natural to me. But still I was depressed. Until I almost fell of starvation on a young woman’s doorstep. She welcomed me in and fed me a hearty meal. That night I slept well. But the next morning, her dog came home from the vet. A ferocious beast the size of a horse with razor sharp teeth and curled claws. I ran for my life the moment his red, beady eyes saw me.
My next encounter was with a group of nomads. There were about 20 adults walking and walking. A hid myself from them as I followed silently behind. Eventually I made myself known and joined them in their journey. But they were all fully grown and strong. I was still a child. I grew tired and departed the procession, making a bed of leaves nearby. The heat was unbearable as it was summer.
That’s when the shop owner found me. I was about to die of heat stroke, for summer in Denmark is a brutal experience. Anyway, Mr Anderson found me and brought me to his cozy little shop. He had fish in his store. But they were so boring and quiet that I fled the little home and went into the inferno again.
The truck hit me a few miles down the road. It crashed into me and I sprawled out on the asphalt. The only hospital nearby was in my hometown of Herlev. I woke up a few days later in my old house. I thought it was all a dream as I sat up in my bed, staring at the empty room. Deciding there was nothing else to lose, I rose from my bed and threw myself down the stairs. But my family was at the bottom of the case, having heard noise from upstairs. They caught me and embraced my mass. I didn’t say anything and only stared at them in confusion. My ugly sister was first to speak. Everyone else nodded as she said how wrong they were. The truck had taken away my beauty. My face was ugly like theirs. And they felt sorry and ashamed. But I still felt beautiful on the inside.
Nice. This reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode.
DeleteIt was a mercilessly chilly winter night in the dystopian community "Under the Sea", UTS for short. A pain stricken mother was giving birth to a beautiful baby girl without any medication; none was available. It was a long battle, but the delivery was a success. Tears of happiness were shed, but also ones of regret, for the mother was put into this cell due to her kleptomania and in this evil world, the baby was doomed to this prison. It was a blessing in disguise for the child named Ariel, though.
ReplyDelete18 years passed and with her mother long gone, Ariel just had her friends in the prison. She has always had a hint of respect from everyone though, since she doesn't necessarily belong there in the eyes of the other prisoners. Everyone was her friend and she was treated like a princess. Even the warden gave her amazing privileges. She was the librarian there and was actually paid with a currency used in the prison for various, small luxuries. She didn't know much more than this life; she lived day in and day out as a celebrity in the hell she was born in.
That all changed when a security guard was hired. They made eye contact on his first day and had an instant mutual attraction. One day, while Ariel was working, he walked in. She was quickly hiding between shelves to avoid communication. She's never felt anything like this before, being isolated her whole life.
"I'm Eric," he stated, startling her from behind. She was speechless and managed to mutter out a "hello" before scurrying away. Luckily no feelings diminished and instead, he was more persistent. Ariel often confided in her best friend, nicknamed Flounder, for reasons unknown. She was against a relationship with this man because it could've ruined all that she had Under the Sea. She couldn't bear to take her advice, though. He visited her once again at work, which lead to some small talk and once the library closed, they hid in the back to have the area to themselves. They stayed up all night talking and sharing their favorite books. Eric had a life outside of his job though, obviously, so he often left Ariel missing him.
One day, they were fed up with living separate lives. Their love could no longer be held back by the walls of the prison.
"I want to be bailed out of this God forsaken precipice," Ariel confessed.
"I will show you the world," Eric responded with sincerity and truthfulness. They devised a plan where they would hide in the library again and then escape using Eric's keys that he had to the whole prison. They both left that part of their life behind. Ariel does feel bad for abandoning the trust of Under the Sea, but there was a lot more to life, even in the bleak dystopia they lived in.

ReplyDeleteI just feel like I’m not the happy kid I once was as a child. I’m a smart kid and I do really good at school, I have no problems with my family, my life is perfect, yet I’m still not happy. I have friends and I’m captain of the soccer team. I need some direction. My parents couldn’t quite see that I have lost my inner spark. I’ve always been that happy kid who doesn’t let anyone bother them but within the last few years I let every little thing get to me, like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and a feather is just going to make me fall.
Not many people even know I’m here, actually no one except my family does. I would never want anyone to find out why I’m actually here; I cannot even admit it to myself yet. My parents don’t know, my girlfriend doesn’t know she does not even know where I’m at and I rather keep it that way. My coach is the only one who knows the truth, and he found out by mistake. Coach looks out for me and he was the one who recommended me coming here, he just wants to help. He looks at me as his pride and joy; I just didn’t want to disappoint him anymore.

Being here for me is weird I have no family to get better for, I have no one at home waiting for me. I don’t even have a real home to go home to once I’m done here. I know I haven’t been myself since my dad died he was the only family I had everyone is dead and gone. My mother died during child birth, it’s always just been me and my dad until I was 12 that’s when his accident happened a drunk driver hit him and since that day I haven’t been the same girl. I’ve turned into evil and I can see it I just don’t want to admit it.
Both of my parents were foster children like I am now, except the fact they were given up at birth and that’s how they meet. I have a few pictures to remind myself where I came from but it is starting to get harder and harder to remember what my dad was like. I started acting out right after I was placed at my first home. I just started hanging out with the wrong kids and I turned into one of those kids that your parents warned you about and since then I just can’t get out of this rut that I’m stuck in I do want to get better.
…………………
Day 2- Dustin
My first day was so hard I miss home. I somewhat regret coming here, I thought this would have been good for me; guess I was wrong once again. I didn’t get much sleep last night, I don’t sleep very well when I am away from home, but hopefully I get used to it here since I’m stuck in a ninety day program. Today I had a meeting with my therapist and he got really upset when I called him a head shrinker, I was just trying to joke around and lighten the mood. He was a very nice man but a little too uptight everyone has to relax at some point. Other than this incident everyone is really easy going here. I am starting to feel like I fit in or belong here.
Day 3- Lexa
I just want to disappear. I don’t care if it comes to the point of me dyeing; I’m not eating this nasty food. It always smells in this place and everyone looks like physco-paths. I want to go back to school where my friends are. I miss them but I miss Frank mostly, he understands that I’m not a crazy person. He gets me. Even though Frank brought me into this world I still fancy him, even though he made me this way. He was the first boy to ever look at me that special way, like I was a simple flower with so much hidden beauty. He is nineteen but age does not matter to us, it’s nothing but a number. Frank started as just my dealer but then we started meeting up more and more and eventually started dating. He is just one of those things I knew I wanted when I first laid eyes on him and I eventually get everything I want. Some think I am crazy for falling in love with him, but deep down he really is a sweet boy no matter what anyone thinks or says, he’s mine.

ReplyDeleteFairy Tale
Once upon a time in a far far away land there was a princess that was waiting for her real prince to save her. But time was going by so fast and there was no sign of a prince or a thing that came to save her. The princess name was named Maram, her hair was light brown and it was long it could cover all of her back. She was the most known princess in the world but many men tried to save her but there is a dragon in front of the castle and he has a riddle for the men to solve if they solve it they will go in and take the princess. The problem is no one that came has solved the riddle; if you didn’t solve it the dragon would burn you with his hot flames and make you into ashes, and no one would have known what has happened to the person. One man thought he was tough and came with a sword and he wanted to save the princess from the scary dragon. The dragon stopped him and said “if you solve this riddle the princess is all yours.” The man said “hit me with anything you got.” The dragon replied asking “what is the princess name.” The man looked at the dragon and was confused because no one knows how this princess looks like or her name. The only thing people knew about her was how beautiful she was from tales from long time ago. The man said “her name is Yasmine.” The dragon mouth open up like the sky opening after a larger rain and he just blows one hit of his hot flames and he turn the man into ashes. Man number one failed. Man number two came and he heard of the riddle but he came to the dragon and wanted to fight him. He didn’t want to solve the riddle so he told the dragon “Riddles aren’t my thing, I came to fight for my princess and I’m not leaving till she leaves with me.” The dragon looked at the man and said if you can break one of my wings the princess is all yours.” The man agreed to the challenge. So he went on and tried to break one of the dragon wings but every time he tried the dragon blocked him. The dragon got tired of the man and he opened his mouth and there goes the second man in ashes. A lot of men came and tried to save the princess but every one of them failed. There was one prince that was the nicest prince ever in history and he didn’t want anything to do with the princess he just wanted to save her and let her live a life like everyone else. This prince name was Amir. So this prince made his way to the far far away land and there he is in front of the dragon. The prince never said a lot he just showed it in action. The dragon looked at the prince and told him of everyone that tried to save the princess, and he told him what happened to them. So he told the prince if he got anything to offer the dragon to get the princess or if he wants to fight for the princess. The prince looked at the dragon and lifted his sword up and said fight me till you kill me. The dragon opened his mouth and he blew our fire the prince dogged the fire, the dragon was surprised because no one ever dogged his fire. The dragon repeated his attack but the prince was too fast and blocked everything the dragon had in him. The prince looked at the dragon and said it my turn. The prince ran towards the dragon and he jumped and sliced the dragon neck and there goes the dragon neck falling on the floor hard making the earth shake. The prince made his way and opened the door on the princess and as soon as he opened the door he was shocked and the princess was the same way. They felt in love as soon as they saw each other. That was the first; love from the first sight. From there they got married and had children and they lived with happiness and love all over the air.
How sweet. Nice work.
DeleteOnce upon a time there was a girl named Cindy. Her mother died when she was just a couple of months old. Her father couldn’t bare to think that Cindy would grow up with no mother so he immediately went looking for a new mother for Cindy. Her new stepmother was the meanest person in the world. Her new mother had two sons. Oh can you say annoying. They at first got along until the father only worried about Cindy. The boys slowly got jealous of Cindy. The boys didn’t have a father so they wanted Cindy’s father to be their new father.
ReplyDeleteOne day Cindy’s father went to go shopping for Christmas. Cindy was left with her stepmother Christmas Eve they were waiting for the father. He never came back. When they woke up there was a police man standing outside and looked at the ground. The police man told the family that the father had died in a shooting in the mall. That day was the saddest day of her life and she couldn’t believe that she was left with her stepmother. Her stepmother made her go to the basement and live in there. She worked every day in the whole house she didn’t have any form of life. The boys would hate on her they blames her that the father that they finally had left this world.
One day everyone in the little town got invited to the Prince’s ball. He needed a new friend. The prince was always left alone and didn’t have any type of people he could talk to. He didn’t care that he found some guy friends or find love at first sight he needed more than just seeing his servants every day. The catch was that he was only going to accept one friend. He didn’t want a person to like him for his money it was just going to be just for him. Of course the perfect occasion was to do a massacre ball. The boys were excited they thought that if they were friends with the prince they would have girls wanting to be with them and would have money. Cindy didn’t care about meeting the prince she just wanted to get out of the house and wanted to have a little fun and meet new people.
Cindy went into her room and her little mouse came to her. She pet them and gave them a piece of cheese. She went down to their level and told them that she was going to a ball. They went crazy. The mice danced all across the floor. Then the stepmother stomped down the stairs. She told her that Cindy would need to clean every little place and it needed to be spotless. The ball was that night Cindy went running all over the place to clean the house. The mice thought it would be a great idea to make Cindy a dress. When Cindy was almost finished the boys knew that their step sister was pretty and that she might fall in love with someone and they might have to begin to clean the house. They went to her room and got the dress the mice worked on and burned it. When Cindy was done with cleaning the mice had already told her that they made a dress for her. She went to her bed and saw burned pieces of clothing that said “sorry sis we learned not to play with fire. Haha.” Cindy cried for an hour and she heard her stepmother and stepbrothers leave. Cindy went outside she couldn’t stand to be in that house any longer.
In front of her a fog began to appear. The fog began to clear up and she saw her father. She shrieked in delight. He was unable to talk but talking didn’t describe the way he still missed her. He gave her a carriage, with some horses, two waiters, and he also gave her the best dress she could ever think of. She put on her mask and her father mouthed “I love you.” He also blew her a kiss and gestured that the spell would be over by midnight. He walked away and disappeared into the strange fog once again. Cindy saw that there was a note in the seat and it said that the spell would end at midnight. She went to the ball and walked in with a new sort of confidence. She walked in and looked around. She couldn’t recognize anyone. A man walked up to her. She was shy and decided to have a good five minute conversation and walked away. She went to go get herself a drink and saw that he followed her. She nervously got her drink and he pulled her by the arm. He brought her out to the dance floor and they both began to dance. When the song was over he bought her out to the patio. At the patio they played a little twenty question game. Cindy found out that she did believe in love in first sight and that the man she danced with was the prince. She told him everything about herself and took of her mask. He accepted her for the person who she was.
DeleteShe told him where she lived and that he should visit her sometimes. It was a minute until midnight and Cindy went running to the house. The next day the prince went to her house. He knocked on the door and Cindy opened. She was surprised to see that it was him. She thought that he forgot about her. She grabbed her by the back and gave her a light kiss. The boys saw her kiss the boy and grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground. The prince sent them for jail for abuse. The prince asked Cindy to marry her a couple of months later. Cindy moved out of her house and convinced the prince to set her brothers out of jail. They got married and lived happily ever after.
She was from the city, always had everyone do everything for her. Her parents were both rich so she got everything she wanted. She was always treated like a princess. Her name was Taylor, seventeen years old in her junior year of high school, and captain of the girls’ soccer team. She was the type of girl that would always have the nice clothes, nice car, and nice house. Yet Taylor was a down to earth type of girl.
ReplyDeleteHer parents have been married for ten years, they were happy together until Taylors mom cheated on her husband than that’s when things started to go downhill. So they decided to get a divorce. Taylor’s dad has found a woman but of course it means moving to a new town. Taylor's dad had two daughters, they were just like Taylor but more stuck up about everything. They were both around the same age one was named Allis and she was sixteen. Another was named Lilly and she was eighteen. Taylor’s dad is always working so she never sees him. The girls all treated Taylor like a dog, like as if she was a maid. They made her do everything. She had to scrub the floors with her hands.
Taylor started to go to high school and her step sisters made her look like a pig when she wasn’t. Taylor only had one good friend. She was always with her and helped her do everything she could. Taylor did well in school and wasn’t really focused on any boys. One day she saw this very attractive guy in her school and every girl wanted him even Taylors step sisters. They kept trying to talk to him but he just wasn’t interested. All the girls did everything they could to get his attention; they would dress different and act like they didn’t know how to do anything. He wasn’t interested in any of the girls, but what caught his eyes was Taylor. He didn’t like it when girls would have to act a different way for attention. He liked when a girl would just be her, he wants what he can’t get. The bell rang for class and he was walking to his next class as he walked into her and he books feel. He picked them up and looked into her blue eyes and said sorry. When he saw her he was somewhat speechless.
That night there was a high school ball and Taylor was planning on going but of course her step sisters would come up with something for her to do so that she can’t go. So they made Taylor clean all the bed rooms, basement, closets, bathrooms, and the kitchen. Taylor knew that, that would take her all night to do. Her best friend got her cousins cleaning crew to clean the mess for her while they go to the ball. Taylor and her friend go to the ball, all dressed up and fancy. The kid asked Taylor to dance so she went for it, and ten minutes while she was dancing she knew it was the kid. She started to freak out and then left because she knew her step mom was coming home soon. She ran home and on her way out she dropped her headphones. He tried to stop her but she was already gone.
The next day in school he tried to look for the girl that lost her headphones and of course every girl said it was hers just so that they could be with him. He found out it was Taylors because he heard her and her friend talking about how she lost her headphones. That day after school he went up to her and they started talking and went out to eat. Since they were both eighteen Taylor decided to move out so she won’t be with her step mom and sisters anymore. She started her own life.
Peter Pan lives in Netherland. Once upon a time he decided to go and get some milk because he was running low. He heard that later on a big hurricane was supposed to hit near Netherland, but he decided to go out and get milk anyway. When he got the milk he decided to return to Netherland. When he walked outside the convenience store, the wind started to pick up and the rain started to pour down. He tried to get out of there and fly back to Netherland, but the wind was too powerful and he lost control of his wings. He was being tossed around inside the hurricane for what seemed like an eternity. Then eventually the wind started to die down and the rain stopped. He went down to the surface and got his bearings. When his feet touched the ground, it felt very grainy. He looked down, he was standing in sand. He didn’t know where he was. There was nothing but sand. He flew up somewhat in the sky and he could see a road and a few villages. He flew to the village and asked a few locals where he is.
ReplyDeletePeter Pan: Do you gentleman happen to know where this is?
Locals: This is Afghanistan, the most beautiful place in the world. (Gunfire is heard not too far away.)
Peter Pan: The Middle East?
Locals: Peter Pan: The Middle East?
Locals: Indeed it is you might want to watch your back around here, there has been intense fighting in these areas.
Peter Pan: I’ll take that into consideration. Do you guys know where the nearest city is from here?
Locals: Yes, Kandahar is only about 10 miles away. You might want to get moving now; the fighting really gets going when the sun goes down.
Peter Pan: Thanks for the help guys, stay safe.
Peter Pan then started walking to Kandahar. His wings were worn out and weak from the hurricane. The sun went down and it was cold. Every once in a while Pan would hear gunshots, which scared him badly since he was not used to this kind of environment. He was cold and shivering when he eventually arrived in Kandahar. The city looked run down and dirty. He saw a few U.S. soldiers walking around the streets. He went up to them and asked them
Peter Pan: Do you guys know how to get back to Netherland?
Soldiers: What the hell are you talking about kid; get out of here before you get hurt.
Peter Pan: I’m just trying to get back home.
Soldiers: Well I can’t help you with that kid, sorry.
Peter Pan’s dreams had just been crushed. He just wanted to get back to Netherland. Now, walking down a dark desert road, he didn’t know what to do, when all of a sudden a mysterious man with a long beard came up to him.
Peter Pan: Who are you mister?
Man: Me, I’m Osama Bin Laden.
Peter Pan: I’ve heard about you before, a bunch of people are looking for, aren’t they?
Man: Yes, and they still think I’m hiding in a cave. You can’t run a giant terrorist organization from a cave. I have a big mansion over in Pakistan.
Peter Pan: We’ll how can you help me?
Man: I’ve been hiding for years. I know how to not get caught. Some of my men will help you get home; it will take a few days in the car though.
Peter Pan: Wow, thanks mister, buy why are you doing this for me?
Man: After doing a lot of terrible things in my life, I thought I’d do something nice for a change.
And that’s the story of how Peter Pan got lost in the Middle East.
The Beauty and the Beast was a rich young female princess named Sandra, living in a mansion on the upper side of New York. She was the prettiest young girl in the whole world and anyone would die to be with her and die to be just like her but there was something bad about her that took her beauty away once she opened up her mouth. Even though she was the prettiest she had something in her that would make her ugly, which was her attitude and stink face when people stared at her beauty. People from downtown saw her couple of times on television and when she was on the air she would act as if she was the sweetest person in the whole wide world. Her show was based on a lie even her “friends” said so too. Things took a turn when one day the producers of her show asked her to go downtown to talk to some people that really admired her, she made a stink face and started screaming and cussing at the producers telling them that they were out of their mind and that she wasn’t going to that stink-hole full of people she hated and felt disgusted by but either way they made her go or else she would lose her show. The day that she had to go downtown came and she wasn’t even dressed appropriately for the event. Sandra wore some gray leggings with white socks and Nike sandals along with a white shirt, glasses covering her pretty eyes and dry hair up in a bun, the beast came out of her along with her attitude. The producers were angry at her because she knew that many reporters were going to be there to film the richest young female saying hello to all her fans, “This is going to be such a marvelous day.” said one of the producers sarcastically. The limo arrived and hundreds of people ran to the limo knocking on the doors and surrounding the car screaming that they love her with posters on their hands, some fans were even crying. The limo driver rolled down the window on her side and told her that she would have to wait a minute because too many people were there and there was no way of him getting around to open the door safely. Sandra was already annoyed by all the yelling she’s hearing and she couldn’t stand it anymore so she opened the door with much force and told everyone to get out of her way, people that were near her stayed quiet while others that didn’t hear her kept screaming. A reporter approached her and asked “Sandra, why are you dressed like that today?” and she answered “If it’s any of your business I’m dressed like this so I could be like them, a low level.” and smile like if what she said was nice at all. Many people heard her and started a mob to get her out of town, they were enraged with her words and some cried because they looked up to someone that they thought was a generous person which in reality she’s a beast. That rude comment she made gave her show more ratings and sadly it wasn’t taken off because people like drama and bullies.
ReplyDelete“Grow up Wendy,” Mr. Hook said, dropping my test on my desk. My doodles covered practically the whole page, but it was the big red F at the top that really stood out.
ReplyDeleteI sighed loudly and flipped it over so I wouldn’t have to look at it. “Maybe I don’t want to grow up,” I mumbled quietly to myself.
“What was that? You don’t want to grow up?” Mr. Hook chuckled to himself. “Everyone grows up. Whether you like it or not Penny you will grow up someday, and doodling on your tests instead of actually doing them won’t get you anywhere in life.” He stopped before he passed my desk and leaned over. “By the way Ms. Darling I hear everything, so I recommend not whispering those snide comments to yourself anymore.”
I pouted and crossed my arms. It was true, Mr. Hook did hear everything. Sometimes I think in his head he hears every tick that the clock makes. I like to joke about it because every time it ticks his mustache twitches.
“Psst,” I heard from behind me. “Psst.”
I turned to the boy behind me whose name I was pretty sure was Peter and looked him up and down questioningly. He had rusty red hair and chocolaty brown eyes that were staring hard at me. “What?” I snapped at him.
“I have a secret to tell you.” He said leaning forward in his seat. He was so close that I could actually feel his breath on my face. “All the best people never grow up.” He grinned and leaned back in his seat, his candy eyes still focused intently on me.
I turned back around in my seat and smiled widely to myself.
As I turned the corner to get to my ninth class a hand grabbed my arm. I turned and Peter’s dark brown eyes were staring hard at me.
“Want to go somewhere where you never have to grow up?”
He took my hand and led me down a dark corridor. There were flashing red and yellow lights all around me. Everything was vibrating, even the floors. When we got to the end of the hall there was a door. Peter looked at me with a deviously smile and opened the door.
The music was so loud that my ears were buzzing. The room was big with high ceilings and there were flashing lights all around.
Peter leaned down close to my ear. “Welcome to Neverland!” he yelled. He took my hand and led me into another room into the back. The room was silent but my ears were still buzzing. He took a bag of yellow sparkled powder and dumped it out onto the metal table in the center of the room. He broke it up into two lines and turned back to me. “Have you ever had Pixie Dust before?”
I shook my head, suddenly feeling like maybe I shouldn’t have agreed to come here.
“Here,” he said, pulling a straw out of his pocket and handed it to me. “I promise if you have some that as long as you think happy thoughts, you’ll spend the rest of the day feeling like you’re flying.”
I just stared at the straw petrified. I’d never done anything like this before. I’d never skipped class and I’d certainly never done drugs before. Could it really be all that bad? Peter said he’s done it and he seems fine, in fact, he seems happy. Maybe I’d like to know what it’s like to fly. Maybe I’d like to know what it’s like to never grow up.
As I reached for the straw someone burst through the door. “Cops!” he yelled and closed the door behind him.
Belle was just a typical city girl. Growing up in the streets of New York City, Belle was raised without her mother and her father struggled to keep a job. He was an alcoholic and everyone in town thought that he was crazy. She was a victim of her circumstances. Belle was loved by the men in her town, although she liked to keep to herself. The most popular football player at her school was the one that was most overcome with her pure beauty. All the girls were in love with Gaston but he was in love with Belle who was not in love with him.
ReplyDeleteBelle’s doorbell rang startling her and causing her book to fall out of her hand. She walked to the bottom of the stairs to the door to her apartment where she lived with her father. She looked through the peep hole that stood about three quarters of the way up the door. Standing on the other side of the door was Gaston, with his varsity jacket on and a bouquet of roses in his hand. She opened the door, although she was not in the mood to deal with his crazy antics.
“Ah yo Belle, you da pretest girl I’ve eva seen in my life.” Gaston said pulling out a box from inside his jacket pocket. “Belle, I want you to be my wife!” He grinned hopefully. Belle slammed the door in his face and ran back upstairs where her father was preparing one of his newest inventions for a show he was about to leave for.
“Belle, I want to show you the final test before I leave for my convention.” Belle walked over to where her father’s contraption was set up as he picked up a block of wood and put it into the end of the machine. Soon, a wooden spoon spat out the other side. He jumped in joy before hugging his daughter and leaving the apartment.
Later that night, Belle’s phone rang. “Hello?” Belle answered.
“Hello, is this the residence of Maurice… we has been stabbed and killed.” Belle dropped the phone and collapsed. She ran out the door into the cold, dark city streets. She started running towards where the police station was located a few blocks away. Her journey was interrupted by a strange hand that reached out from a dark alley and pulled her to the ground. A hand reached around and covered her mouth and dragged her into the darkness.
The next thing Belle remembers is waking up in a strange room. She found herself tied to a chair with a strange, hairy, figure standing in the doorway at the far side of the room. The lights were off so it was difficult to make out exactly what the figure was but it looked primal. A small candelabrum hoped over to her feet.
“Hello Madame, welcome to our wonderful home!” He had a thick French accent but his tone hinted at a slight bit of fear. The other objects in the room starting to talk to the frightened girl but the strangest one was a clock that stood on top of a table that sat next to Belle’s chair. He talked with a English accent.
Modern fairy tale
ReplyDeleteThere once was a beautiful little girl named Katherine. She lived with her divorced mother in a very small town called Nullenud. From a very young age her father left them and was never to be found again. This made little Katherine very upset but she never showed it. Whenever you see little Katherine, she always had a nice white smile on her face. Her mother remarried to a man named Henry; he had two sons and was very charming. His sons were about Katherine’s age. A year after they married, Katherine’s mom died suddenly. Katherine couldn’t put her mind on how her mother died. She was never sick; according to Henry she died of a heart attack in her sleep.
After the death of her mother, Henrys true colors came out. He was nothing but a mean and abusive man. His two sons Chris and Tony tormented Katherine. Making her do all of the chores around the house. She was officially their slave, she woke up every morning at five to make breakfast, do the laundry, feed the animals, vacuum the carpets, clean the kitchen, sweep and mop the floors, wash the cats and dogs, clean out the gutters, make lunch, wash the windows, mow the lawn, rack the leaves, wash the cars, clean all of their rooms, cook dinner, and finally wash the dishes. Not to mention the fact that her step father abuses her and harasses her on a daily basis. Her step brothers constantly tease her and belittle her in every way they can. Even after all of this torment, which has been going on for over 10 years, Katherine always manages to smile. She knows the stuff they do is mean and cruel but her head is always in the clouds, daydreaming of a better place.
Katherine goes to Nullenud high school with her two step brothers. She does well in all her classes but has no friends. Chris and Tony are the jocks in the small school; they are the ‘popular’ kids. They talk bad about Katherine behind her back and bully her in school too. The only friend she has is her one teacher Mr. Viol, he grew a certain love for Katherine. Not in a romantic way, but more in a fatherly way. Katherine never talks bad about her family, she does what she’s told and as long as she keeps in that way she won’t get hit.
One of the most popular and the hottest kid in town was having a welcoming party. He was coming back home from the marines, and his sister was throwing a party for him. Anybody was invited, and it was formal attire too. Katherine was really excited to have received an invitation and asked her father if she could attend. Her brothers immediately said no, saying that she has no friends to go with and that no one likes her. Henry said that if she gets all her chores done and have something nice to wear. Katherine didn’t have any dresses to put on put could make her own, all she needed was some time. Chris and Tony made their mission for her to have never ending chores. Mr. Viol called Katherine and asked what were her plans and she started crying, she explained about the party and how she wouldn’t be able to go because of the dress. He immediately dropped off a box to Katherine and it held a beautiful lace dress inside. He was like her guardian angel.
Once Chris and Tony left, she slipped her dress on and went to the party. She was astounded on how many people were there. She was looking for her brothers but somebody caught her eye. The marine went to her; he was captivated by her beauty and asked her to dance. She danced with him all night, she even fell in love. The party ended and he walked her home. They gazed into each other’s eyes
and he leaned in to kiss her but Chris and Tony stepped in and dragged her inside the house. Of course they ruined her night. After that, the marine would not leave her alone. He was in love with her and always stopped by. Her father never let her out to see him. A couple days after the party the marine climbed up her window and asked her to marry him. Katherine was willing to marry him but she knew her father would never let that happen. She wanted to run away. She wanted to run from this awful place and live happily ever after. This is what she wanted. No more chores, no more abuse, no more sadness. She loved the marine with all her heart; it was love at first sight.
ReplyDeleteThere once was gang in Detroit that was called the little red riding Hoods and they were known as a younger gang in the area. They had been built by two brothers that had gotten tired of not being able to walk from their own house to their grandma’s house that was a few block away. The gang that had been running the streets at that time in the neighborhood were called the big bad wolfs and they had a reputation of mauling anyone who got in their way. They were the main gang in Detroit at the time. However the brother’s gang would grow to become so big that they would directly challenge the power of the Big Bad Wolfs.
ReplyDeleteIt all started back when the brothers Jerome and Butch were growing up in their neighborhood and they were constantly afraid to go outside and play. From a young age they were told by their mom and dad to be careful of the gangs and not stay out too late at night because the Big bad wolfs were notorious for beating and killing anyone that they saw at night that they wanted to mess with. Jerome and Butch’s dad was a perfect example of how the gang had no care for who they attacked. One night back when Jerome and Butch were still small children there dad ran late at the car plant where he worked and was on his way home when he was jumped and killed by the big bad wolfs. Everyone in the neighborhood knew who was responsible for the killing but no one including the cops would stand up to the gang because of how dangerous they were. Jerome and Butch did not understand why no one was in trouble for killing their dad but they knew that they hated the Big Bad Wolfs for killing their dad. This hate followed them all the way up into high school but their mom had worked 3 different jobs so the brothers could graduate from high school and go to college far away from the dangerous neighborhood. Then senior year came around and the boys both had good enough grades to go far away from the bad neighborhood but fate was not on their side. One random night their mom was working at her job at the local diner and it was robbed and things went wrong and their mom was shot and no one knows the whole story but apparently someone said they saw guys leave wearing the Big Bad Wolfs colors. Now the Brothers are orphans and the only one that could take care of them was their grandma down the street. However they knew that they could not go down to their grandmas by themselves, so they called up a few friends and had them walk down the street with them. The group was big enough to keep any group of Big Bad Wolfs at bay because they were outnumbered. Then one day the Big Bad Wolfs were waiting for the brothers and their friends and a fight followed. Some of the brothers friends were killed that day but they won the fight and after that day the brothers started their own gang the red riders and you could tell who they were by their distinctive red hoods.
“Do you remember what her voice sounds like, dear?” Mrs. Rose pushed back her daughter’s long, dirty blond hair, until it was out of her face.
ReplyDelete“I don’t think I’ll ever forget,” Mr. Rose replied suddenly, holding his daughter’s hand. “She has the sweetest voice. Sometimes I’ll still hear it in my head.”
Aurora Rose laid still on a hospital bed, wearing her usual light blue hospital gown, tucked in the usual, light blue bed sheets, her head propped up on the usual light blue, plush pillow. Her dirty blond hair was golden under the artificial light above her, and her eyes were sealed closed along with her cherry red lips as usual. Mr. and Mrs. Rose sat on either side of Aurora’s hospital bed as usual. However, for the first time, Aurora’s sister Flora-May Fawn Rose sat on a nearby seat, fumbling a sheet of paper.
“I just hate it when it gets to this point, James,” Mrs. Rose whispered Mr. Rose as if Flora-May could not hear. “I hate having to take Aurora in and out of the hospital like this. She’s missing so much of her life—school, friends, family—it makes me feel so guilty,” Mr. Rose explained with a sniffle.
Mr. Rose joined his wife on the left side of the bed and held her. “You know it’s not your fault, honey. It’s the Kleine-Levin Syndrome. She’s just resting for now—she can’t help it.”
“Yeah, I know . . . She’s a beauty isn’t she, James?”
“I guess that’s why they call it Sleeping Beauty Syndrome,” he teased. “I believe she’ll be better soon, don’t you?”
“I don’t know . . .” Mrs. Rose quivered. “It’s been months . . .”
Flora-May suddenly jumped from her seat, and her parents immediately took their eyes off Aurora and put them on her. Their words had echoed in her mind for so long that she could no longer take it. “Mom . . . Dad . . .” She began slowly walking towards her parents as if they were aliens she was approaching for the first time. “Take this.” She handed them the paper in her hands that was now creased from her constant folding and refolding.
“What’s this?” Mr. Rose asked, as he folded the paper.
Mrs. Rose leaned in to read the print, squinting her eyes in bewilderment. “‘Everything I Could Ever Ask For’?” she said questionably.
ReplyDelete“When Aurora’s syndrome only made her sleep for several hours at a time, she began making this list of everything that would make her happy, so that if she started sleeping for longer periods of time, and you guys ever got worried, you could do them, so you know that she’s doing fine and she’s happy,” Flora-May explained. “She gave it to me weeks before she began sleeping for weeks straight—before she had to come to the hospital. She told me if it ever gets bad, do what I have to do.”
Mrs. Rose scanned the list, “‘Paint my nails, read my favorite book, let me listen to my favorite song, tell me a story . . .’” She paused. “Wow, these are pretty simple.”
“Well, it was always the simple things that made her smile,” Flora-May said.
“‘Get a kiss from Phil Prince?’” Mr. Rose exclaimed. “What? Who’s Phil Prince?”
“Oh, it’s this senior from school she’s been crushing on,” Flora-May said.
“A senior?!” Mr. Rose held his chest. “A boy?!”
“Dad, it’s fine. He’s just a crush. She thinks he doesn’t notice her. And besides, she sixteen, and she’s a junior—they’re pretty close in age.”
“Whatever. Why is it the last thing on the list?”
“She said she put whatever was very last thing as the thing she wanted for longest time.” Flora-May shrugged. “I bet you I could make it happen.”
“No, no, no. Absolutely not.” Mr. Rose folded his arms.
“Dad, why not? It would make her really happy?”
“Why don’t we just get her iPod and play it, or—I’ll even paint her nails, or—”
“Come on, dad. He could just visit her one day, and give her a kiss on the forehead at most.”
Mrs. Rose laughed. “Yeah, I don’t see why not? It’s innocent, James.”
Mr. Rose looked at Flora-May, then at Mrs. Rose, then back at Flora-May. “Fine. As long as it’s innocent.”
***
ReplyDelete“You, know,” Flora-May spoke to Phil Prince one evening as the two walked down the hospital hallway together, “This is extremely thoughtful of you to want to visit Aurora—especially after tonight’s dance. I’m sure she would really appreciate your presence.”
“It’s no problem,” he replied with his hands jammed in the pockets of his varsity football jacket. “I mean, once you told me about her, um, condition, I felt really bad. I never really knew her, but to tell you the truth, I’ve always wanted to—there’s just something about her, I don’t know. I see her in the hallways all the time, but I never say anything to her. I’m surprised she knows who I even am.”
“Are you kidding me?” Flora-May almost shouted as they turned a corner. “Everyone knows who Phil Prince is. Hello, you won Homecoming king tonight!”
Phil nervously adjusted the gold and purple crown on his head. “So, she really wants to see me, huh?”
The two stopped in front of a slightly open door—Aurora’s room. “Yes, now go inside.”
“You’re not coming?” Phil asked, but Flora-May pushed him inside without saying a word.
Phil slowly walked towards Aurora’s bed in the empty room, holding a rose in his hand—his boutonniere. “Hey, Aurora,” he greeted. Practically lifeless, she never replied. Nonetheless, Phil stopped once he was next to her bed, and stared at her, unsure what to say next. Her skin was flawless, and her golden hair was fanned out around her head. “Wow, you’re . . . you’re beautiful,” he whispered.
Placing the rose on her chest, Phil grabbed her hand, and suddenly, something remarkable happened.
“Wha—what? Who are you?” Aurora mumbled. Phil jumped back. “Phil Prince? What are you doing here?” She suddenly sat up straight, her long hair, cascading down her shoulders. “Wait! Where am I? What am I doing here?”
Phil stepped closer to Aurora once again. “You’re in a hospital, Aurora. For your Kleine-Levin Syndrome.” He let out a coy smile. “I just came to visit. I guess I’ll go get your sister. I didn’t know you’d be awake.”
“I guess I wasn’t until now.” Aurora grabbed Phil’s hand once he began to turn around. “Um, you don’t have to get Flora-May. Why don’t you stay for a little?”
Phil sat down in a chair next to her bed. “Sure.” He couldn’t stop smiling. “I’d love to.”

ReplyDeleteModern Fairy Tale: Hansel and Gretel
ReplyDeleteMy siblings and I were all alone. My brother and sister and I were triplets and had been inseparable throughout our lives. We relied and depended on each other for everything and I could not exist without them. Although we did have parents, they were inattentive and negligent to our basic needs and requirements. Our family was not always like this as we once had a father that loved us and genuinely cared for our welfare. This content and blissful early upbringing in the poor rural areas of modern day India all changed when our father died. Our mother attempted to survive as a widow for as long as she possible could but in India, it is essentially impossible to raise children and successfully provide for them without a husband. Having virtually no choice in the matter, our mother was forced to marry a heartless and cruel man that exhibited total control over the inheritance money that was left behind from our father’s years of hard work. Our stepfather was selfish and demonstrated no real love for my mother or us.
We eventually came to despise him and his selfish and greedy ways. As he acted out of self-interest, he only provided necessities for himself and often spent our father’s money on trivial things. Our mother recognized that we were soon running out of money for food. She was then forced to sell all of our possessions that held some value. Selling the few cherished belongings from our humble home pained my mother but she knew that it was necessary for her children's survival.
Eventually, the money that was left was soon drained by the excessive spending and promiscuous ways of our stepfather. As he was unwilling to work, there was soon no more money available to spend. Once he had recognized this, he realized that there were too many mouths to feed. Concerned only for his well-being, he promptly decided to throw my siblings and I out. My mother protested with great chagrin, but her efforts were in vain. The man in the household usually dominated all that occurred in India, leaving my mother powerless to control his actions. With no other forces trying to stop him, we were forced out onto the streets of India. We attempted to find our way back to our home and mother, but we were relocated to a place that was of such great distance from our formal dwelling that we terminated our futile searching.
We had never experienced life in an Indian city and the transition was drastic. We were utterly consumed with the throngs of people and bombarded with the deafening noises of the busy crowds and ever-present beeping of millions of motor vehicles. We tried to navigate our way through the complex labyrinth of the metropolis as we searched endlessly for any scraps of food that we could deem edible to consume. I had knowledge of essential survival techniques because of my upbringing in a hostile world, but I was inadequately prepared for a life in the treacherous and multifaceted city.
When first glanced at, the city and its people seemed to obtain a certain vivacity and animation because the small area was concentrated with so much life and busy activity; however, upon closer examination, it could be noticed that the citizens always seemed to wear a grim expression that depicted their poverty and desperate attempt to muddle their ways through their imperfect world. The spirit of the city soon reflected back on my siblings and I. Our mentality was changed and we lost our resolve to stay strong and resilient. We were children that were dismissed into a harsh and unforgiving place that was foreign.
One grey morning with the sun veiled in a layer of smog, we were urgently looking for sources of food in a dim alleyway when a dark figure approached us. Suddenly, a man came into view and he grabbed all three of us by the collars of our tattered clothing. Our protests were ineffective, as the strength of the man dominated any of our attempts to break free of his iron hold. We were dragged into a nearby building and transported to a room with cold concrete floors. A fluorescent light flickered above us and outlined the austere features of our assailant with a yellow hue. As I peered up at him through my lashes, I saw a sinister gleam in his dark, onyx eyes as shivers ran up my spine. It was almost as if he had the qualities of an evil witch or contained the power of some malice and profoundly immoral spirit.
DeleteMy thoughts were interrupted when he began to bark orders at us as we shrank back into the corner of the room in defense. Before we knew it, we were on our feet again and guided down another dark corridor to a door that opened to a large, roomy space. I surveyed the space and realization overtook my expression. I observed the labor of dozens of children our age dutifully working, apparently manufacturing shirts and other various pieces of clothing. With horror, I recognized a sweatshop in its working. Our mother had warned us of these detestable organizations and that they were the reason for so many young juveniles’ disappearances throughout the country. My siblings and I dispersed into the multitude of children working on an assembly line. I stole a glance around and cringed at the sight of so many children without any shoes. With a new determinations set in my mind, I knew that my siblings and I had to escape from the atrocious place.
When night fell, all of the workers were locked inside the workspace. I motioned for my brother and sister to join me towards the end of the room. With great difficulty, I managed to reach the lowest window and crawled out into the humid night. My siblings followed and soon we were off, escaping a fate of eternal suffering. When daylight approached, we reached a nearby police station and informed them of the location of the sweatshop. Within the hour, the three of us watched with pleasure as we saw the evil man being escorted out of the building with handcuffs wrapped around his wrists. Over the course of the next few days, the other children were released and all placed in new homes. As for my siblings and I, we were compensated for our heroic participation in the freeing off the children and were able to return to our mother. With the money, we became proficient enough to support ourselves and dispelled our stepfather from our home. With this triumph, we were able to live out the rest of our lives in peace.
Not long ago, there was an asian girl, named Yoko who lived the first three years of her life in Japan with her mother and father. When she was three years old, they all caught a terrible disease which caused them to develop a high fever. It lasted for days and days, killing both her parents, but leaving her alive. Lonely and orphaned, Yoko was sent to the united states to live in foster care, and eventually be put up for adoption.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, her life in America was full of misery. From the moment she was brought into her foster home in New York City; her foster mother, Agnes, made her clean the house every single day, and would beat her if she did anything wrong, whether she’d missbehave, miss a spot in the shower or did anything other than work. Her foster sisters,, Catherine and Jesica weren’t any better. As far as they were concerned, Yoko was their personal servant as well. She cleaned their bedrooms, did their laundry and even did their hair. There was not enough time to do homework or after school activities, so she was never considdered a necessarily good student. She had no friends and no one ever stopped to greet her in the hallway. She was just the foster kid that no one ever cared about.
One day when Yoko was about seveteen years old, there was a notice for the spring dance on Friday. Tickets were fifteen dolars per student. Maybe, thought Yoko excitedly, I can persuade Agnes to give me money for a ticket. She had no one to go with, but she figured maybe this would be the perfect opertunity to meet a boy or something. When she asked her foster mother for about the ticket, Agnes nearly fell on the floor with laughter. “You must be kidding,” she kackled. “For one thing, you have nobody to dance with, and for another, I am not waisting one single dollar on you. You have chores to do on friday, and you have no time to go to danced! You were born to be a servant, therefore you will be one for life!”
“Besides,” Cathrine said, snorting. “You don’t even have any fancy clothes.
ReplyDelete“And if you think that we’ll go dress shopping with you,” Jesica said, “you thought wrong.”
Yoko swung the front door open and ran out of the house, slamming it behind her. She could hear Agnes bellowing from inside, “You get back in here right this second! You have the floors to sweep and the bathrooms to clean! And don’t you dare slam the door ever again! Don’t make me get my paddle and chase after you!” She didn’t care what her foster mother had to say, for she knew eventually the three of them would forget about her and not care if a car crushed her flat.
Yoko ran as fast as she could on the sidewalk, racing across the street until she found a tree nearby. She made her way to the tree, collapsed onto the ground and began to sob. There was no one for her to turn to, no one who cared for her or comfort her in times like this. It looked like her life would never get any better. For four days, Yoko stayed under that tree, eating the fruits and leaves off the tree and sleeping under the tree. There was no way she would ever go back to her foster home, ever set foot in that school, or ever be ridiculed and disapproved of another day.
On Friday night, Yoko was just drifting off to sleep when she heard a soft voice calling her name. “Hey, Yoko,” it said. “Wake up.”
She stirred and stood up from the ground to see a beautiful woman standing in front of her. There was something different about her, something more graceful than most people. “Who are you,” she asked, worried.
“Your parents sent me here,” replied the woman.
“My parents?” Yoko was confused. She hardly remember her parents, and she didn’t know of anyone who might know them. Without thinking of any other explanation, she stammered, “Are y-you my guardian angel or something?”
“You can say that,” the woman replied. “I heard you were in pretty bad shape, so I had to come and help.”
“Yes,” Yoko replied. “you can say that. My foster family is terrible, and they have taken away the oppertunity to maybe meet someone and just have a good time for once. All I do every day is cook and clean while they go out and do whatever rich people may do.”
“Yes, I know it all,” the guardian angel said symatheticly. “and I’m here to solve your roblems. I would have gotten you a ticket for the dance, but it’s too late for that now. You’ll have to just try and sneak in.”
Yoko felt hope rising in her, until she remembered she had nothing to wear at the dance. Was this guardian angel going to do something about that along with helping her sneak in?
“Patience,” the guardian angel said. “I know what you’re thinking. I have everything ready for you, but I have to leave for them. I’ll be back in a few seconds.”
Using the wings Yoko had just noticed, the guardian angel flew to whereever she was going, which Yoko didn’t know. Will she come back, she wondered. What if this was a joke?
When the guardian angel returned, Yoko gasped. She was carying a beautiful flowing dress, and silver slippers. There was also the most beautiful gold chain with a heavy flower pendent. “Wow,” Yoko breathed. “It’s so beautiful.” Everything even fit perfectly. This was turning out to be an interesting day, indeed.
“Now before you go thanking me,” the guardian angel warned. “You have a curfew. At the stroke of midnight, these clothes are going to disappear. You’ll have to come back here and get your old clothes back on. Now go enjoy yourself, you have an hour left.”
ReplyDeleteThanking the mysterious woman, Yoko raced to the wealthy school she went to. She managed to sneak into the dance and sachet along with everyone else. Now, she was no longer the foster child from another continent that acted as a servant, she was a stunning young woman that everyone wanted to dance with.
When a slow song came on and couples were beginning to slow dance, someone tapped her on the shoulder. “Hey, do I know you?”
Yoko turned around to see a gorgious boy about her age, who had toned muscles and an irresistable smile. “I don’t believe so,” Yoko replied. “My name is Charlotte and I’m new here.”
“I’m Aaron,” the boy replied. “Do you want to dance?”
“Yes,” Yoko replied, her face flushed. They danced through the song, and Yoko especially like the way Aaron dipped her. For the first time in a long time, she felt pure and utter joy going through her. She felt pretty and carefree.
Yoko’s eyes fell on the clock on the wall which said that it was 11:59 PM. It was almost midnight; her carefree moment was over. “I have to leave,” she said urgently, turning towards the door. “I have a curfew.”
“Charlotte, wait a second,” Aaron called back. “I have to tell you something.”
But Yoko kept sprinting away. On her way out, her left shoe fell off her foot, but she hardly noticed. Outside, it was pooring buckets, and thunder boomed in the sky. When she reached the tree where she had left her clothes, she found that they were soaking wet. The dress and the necklace had disappeared along with the slipper, leaving her utterly naked. With nothing else to do, Yoko scooped up the soaking linnon and ran towards her foster home. Whatever happened to her while she was running, we do not know. Some say she had been struck by lightning or hit by a car. Others say she had gone back to her foster home and remained a servant untill she was eighteen, where she ran away and changed her identity. But no matter what theories everyone made, her life still remains a mystery.
...That ending crushed me...
DeleteI would start the story off by saying, “Once upon a time” or “There once was”, but this is 2013! There’s this girl that lives down the street from me and she goes to my high school. From the looks of it, her life is an absolute at home. I think her father died when she was younger, she’s eighteen now, oh by the way her name is Melanie. She lives with her stepmother and her two step sisters. Based on what I see in school, they don’t treat her as best as they should. We live in a small town in New Jersey, it’s called Rocky Hill. Anyway, the story I’m going to tell you is one that has to be told, I don’t think anybody would believe me if I told them! All I’m going to say is that miracles do happen and love does exist!
ReplyDeleteMelanie isn’t the prettiest of them all, she’s what you call a “Plain Jane.” I mean, she wears her up and very rarely wears make up. Her sisters, well step-sisters are named Tiffany and Sam. They bully that poor girl in school and nobody does or says anything. I wouldn’t call them popular, but they try really hard to be. Karma will eventually catch up with them sooner or later. Since I’m introducing everybody, I might as well tell you about Jacob Jones and his “girlfriend” Kara. I put girlfriend like that because in her mind, they’re together, but I don’t think he knows that. Jacob is every girl’s dream! He’s the star football player, everybody knows him, he gets invited to everything, but he doesn’t usually seem to care that much, like he’s blinded by his own popularity.
It all started when the school was hosting a Winter Formal Dance and everyone was matched up with an anonymous person. Kara didn’t like this idea, so she used Tiffany and Sam to help her fix the results, so that she would be matched with Jacob. Tiffany and Sam wanted to be popular so bad that they did absolutely everything Kara told them to do. The only way your name would be picked to be matched with a date is if you signed up for the program. I don’t think Melanie wanted to sign up for the dance, but her friend Kyle convinced her that it would be a good idea. Finally convinced Melanie signed up for her results, but on the night of the actual dance her step mother Mary made Melanie clean the house. Not wanting to see his friend not go to the dance, Kyle came up with a plan that would allow Melanie to go to the dance and be home before her step mother got home.
ReplyDeleteKyle and Melanie went to the dance and were matched with their dates, Kyle got some girl named Sara. Guess who Melanie was matched up with? Jacob! Every girl in the room was jealous and were all rolling their eyes at her, I promise you it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen! Just as Jacob and Melanie were dancing, talking, and having a good time, Melanie’s alarm went off on her cell phone that signaled that it was midnight. She had to leave as soon as possible. She ran away and grabbed Kyle. Jacob tried to chase after, as he was running he noticed that Melanie dropped her phone.
Jacob called out to her, “Hey, but I don’t even know your name!” It was too late, she was already gone. Melanie got in the house before Mary came home and cleaned the house as fast as she could. She was safe. The school year was coming to an end and college acceptance letters were coming out.
ReplyDelete“I just want to leave and go to college like 500 miles away from this town Kyle!” Melanie said to Kyle as they were in the car driving home.
“I know how you feel, but didn’t you have fun with Jacob the other night?”
“I did, but he’s Jacob and I’m Melanie. He was matched with me against his will.” She responded to Kyle’s question.
Melanie got out of the car and checked the mailbox, she noticed a letter from Stanford in California. She ran in to the house and up to her room, she ripped open the letter and the letter read, “Melanie Lewis, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Stanford University!” Melanie was very ecstatic and jumped for joy! She was finally able to leave her evil family.
Melanie called Kyle and relayed to him the good news, he was happy for her and told her that he heard Jacob also was accepted to Stanford! The two would be together after all, maybe, maybe not. I don’t really know, considering the fact that I’m in community college. Great.
The End.

ReplyDeleteChristine and Justin were childhood sweethearts in a rural town of Toral Town. When they reached the age of twenty two, they got married immediately after college. They were blessed by the town elders and their parents. Christine worked as a nurse in the Toral Town Medical Building. The townsmen would go there for minor sickness, to get medicine or shots. The people would go to the big cities nearby for surgical procedure. Justin was a construction worker in Pierta City, which is a twenty hour ride from Toral Town. Justin went to the city to work and came home every three months. Christine’s family was rather poor; therefore, they could not afford to buy a computer or a phone. The couple stayed in contact with each other by writing letters. Christine would take care of both her and Justin’s parents, who were in their late sixties already, while Justin worked out of town.
That kind of life lasted five years, when Justin’s letters stopped coming. Christine became worried about her husband and decided to go to Pierta to go find him. Christine’s travel was not peaceful, considering it was in the raining season. She would stop once the rain starts to splatter on the glass, blocking the bus driver’s view. It became unsafe to continue the drive. With no other choice, they had to stop until the rain got lighter. The trip dragged on and on, making the two day ride into a five day journey.
By the afternoon of the fifth day, Christine finally arrived at Pierta City. She asked a person where Justin’s sleeping quarter was by the letters Justin sent her. Following the directions told, Christine found Justin’s apartment building after twenty minutes of walk. She knocked the door, and a man in his thirties opened the door. Christine asked the man, whose name is Mr. Dradri, about what happened to Justin. Mr. Dradri looked debated, so he invited Christine in first. Once she settled down, Mr. Dradri informed Christine of Justin’s whereabouts. Justin died when he fell, while he was working on one of the higher levels. To prevent any scandals from spreading, the boss of the construction company ignored Justin’s death and told someone to bury him in the wall of the building.
Christine asked Mr. Dradri to lead her to the burial site of Justine. She broke down once she arrived at the site. She started crying immediately. As if pitying Christine, the clouds started crying with her, with no signs of stopping. The construction had to be suspended and all the workers went home. Christine remained on the ground crying and crying. The rain never stopped for five days, resulting in a flood. It was especially bad for Pierta City because it is near the coast. That flood destroyed everything, including the unfinished building. It also wiped out eighty- seven percent of Pierta City’s population Eight days after since the flood started, the water started to reside. On the sight of where the building stood, lied Christine’s body and the remains of Justin.
It all happened to one beautiful man named Edgar. He lived with his two older brothers, and two older sisters. His mom and dad also live with their children in a big house right by the river in their town of Hagersville. Edgar lives a different life than everyone else. The problem was that Edgar was beautiful. The little town Edgar lived in every single resident was hideous. Not one person in that colony had any beautiful feature to them.
ReplyDeleteIt all started when Edgar was born. Edgar’s mom had problems while Edgar was in the womb. There were times when Edgar’s mother thought she would never see her fifth child’s face. When his mom would go get ultrasounds to check up on her baby, the doctors couldn’t find signs of life. But lucky enough, Edgar survived all nine months with problem after problem. When Edgar’s umbilical was cut, the doctor’s noticed something wrong with him: he was gorgeous! To keep from insulting her child, the doctor’s called Edgar “broken.”
As Edgar grew older, less people started talking to him. Nobody wanted to be friends with somebody different than them. Edgar was made fun of no matter where he went, whether it was school, the movies, or even the mall. He would be called “different,” “a creepy outsider,” or even “ugly.” Edgar found ugly to be the meanest of them all. He eventually ran away from home.
Edgar lost all faith in himself. He didn’t think that he would ever fit in to any place he went to. He didn’t get far when he ran away though; he made it to the creek that’s in the woods down the road. When Edgar got to the woods, he sat in a big pile of leaves, not giving a care in the world. He wondered if his family ever wanted to see him again. He thought about why people made fun of him for being different. Is there any way he could just vanish somewhere to be where he belonged?
That night Edgar fell asleep in the woods and woke up that following morning. Feeling as if he cried all of his problems away, Edgar got up and headed towards home. After a long walk home, he walked into his house, and into his room feeling like his family missed him. As Edgar strolled into the living room, nobody was there. “Maybe they went out looking for me.” He thought.
Edgar went into his room to change his very dirty clothes, when he saw nothing. The room that was right next to the bathroom that Edgar called “his room” is empty. Not a single piece of furniture was left in that room. Feeling hurt, Edgar went into the living room again when he spotted something else totally wrong. The school pictures that were hanging up on the wall below the staircase had a problem. All five of the children have a picture hanging up. The last photo on the right where Edgar’s picture usually is wasn’t there. Looking at the wall in awe, Edgar dropped his head and sat on the stairs. “Maybe they don’t care about me. Not even my own family cares that I’m gone. They don’t even like me.” Edgar said under his breath with tears rolling down his face.
ReplyDeleteAt that moment, Edgar grabbed whatever clothes his oldest brother had in his room and stuck them into a suitcase and left his “former” house. Before he left, he found his siblings’ wallets and took all of their money. Edgar left his house and just walked any place that had a sidewalk. Edgar traveled at least forty miles before he found a diner in the middle of nowhere. Edgar went to the diner where things seemed different. For some reason, the people who were dining looked gorgeous. Edgar smiled at the people who all seemed normal to him. He didn’t spot a hideous man insight. Edgar went and sat down at a table when a beautiful waiter took his order. That town is where Edgar felt like he belonged. After a quick meal of bacon, eggs and an order of French fries, Edgar decided to explore the new town he traveled to. Edgar found a newspaper dispenser that gave away free newspapers. Edgar read an article that said an old man was looking for a friend. He was lonely, and just wanted somebody to care for him in his state of being alone.
Thinking that old man was feeling the same, Edgar ripped out that ad and went to the old man’s residence. When the old man opened the door, he looked up at Edgar and smiled. The old man and Edgar became good friends and kept each other company. Edgar knew he belonged somewhere, and that place was right down the road. He’s not so different after all.
Three Little Pigs
ReplyDeleteIn the frozen countryside of Northwest Iceland there were three brothers. They had lived there for most of their life and nothing was never really an issue between the three. Everything was good for many years between the three brothers but one day there was blizzard and their house collapsed under the weight of the snow. Even though most people would be crushed by this terrible catastrophe they decided it should start a new part of their lives. They decided to split up and build their own respective houses, even though they were all along the same road.
The first brother built his house as an igloo because he knew that he barely needed a real house due to the fact that he spent most of his time in the town. The second brother built his house as a log cabin with a working fireplace. It took him much longer than the first brother but he wanted a much more permanent house. The third brother had the most extravagant house of them all because he was a writer and he worked from his house. His house was built with stone pillars holding up the foundation. Each of them took pride in their respective houses and they never lost touch with each other since they had been together for so long.
However, one day there was a siting of a Yetti in the town over. The monster had destroyed a few small houses and he had escaped the authorities before they could catch him. He was bigger than any Yetti Iceland had ever seen so the brothers talked to each other one day. The second and third brothers were worried for the first because he had only a lowly igloo to stand between him and the Yetti. The third brother was worried about both of them though because he knew that neither of their houses was going to be able to stop the Yetti.
On a snowy day in December the Yetti decided to start terrorizing people again and it started at the first brother’s house. The Yetti walked up to the first brother’s igloo and tapped on it to see if he was inside, but this only let him know that the Yetti was outside. This allowed the first brother to escape out the back of the igloo and run to the second brother’s house. However, the igloo was destroyed.
When the first brother ran away the Yetti followed him all the way to the next house, the log cabin. When the Yetti got there he knocked on the door while the two brothers were cowering inside. The two brothers that were inside began to plan their escape because they had little doubt that the Yetti could bust down their doors and walls for that matter. The Yetti kept banging and banging on the door until finally it came down. But, when he entered, there was nothing inside to find but a lit fireplace since the two brothers had long since fled to the third brother’s house.
They got to the third brother’s house and explained to him what was happening and how the Yetti had destroyed both of their respective houses. The third brother assured them that everything was okay because he had strong stone pillars holding up his house and that no Yetti could break it down. His idea was soon to be tested.
The Yetti got to the third house and banged on the door over and over again. The brothers were getting more and more nervous on the outside. The more the Yetti hit the door, the more the brothers were concerned. Over and over he banged on the door until suddenly it stopped. The brothers inside had called the police and they had subdued the monster outside. The three brothers could live again in peace after the sturdy house stood up under the pressure of the destructive Yetti.
Once upon a time in a far, far land known as New York there lived boy named Dylan’s. He lived with his wonderful mother, Annabelle and hard-working father Fredrick in nice brownstone in Queens. Though at this time everything seemed great there were troubles that lied deep inside the family. A few years before Fredrick and Annabelle had financial issues. Fredrick couldn’t find a job and had to gamble to at least see his small money double up. And then sadly his money would be gone once again within at least one day. One day while trying to find odd jobs Fredrick passed by a strange bookstore. On the outside it seemed somewhat off. The brightness of the world surrounding it just didn’t seem to hit the building and it refused to light up the windows.
ReplyDeleteThough there was something deep inside of him saying to turn home Fredrick knew he had to find a place to work and this seemed like the only offering place. HE walked in slowly unsure of surroundings and making sure not to touch any of the dust covered books or darkly painted walls. He soon reached a counter and tapped on the bell waiting for someone to appear to him. An older woman wearing a dark robe appeared in front of him. She had long grey hair hanging over her shoulders and her face held a scowl that if looks could kill Fredrick would’ve died twice. Her skin was a pale pearly color and she seemed to be 5’6 in height with a slim stature. The strange woman rounded the table and looked Fredrick straight in the eyes as if examining his soul.
Fredrick coughed uncomfortably and stepped back. “Hello I came to see if you need any assistance in your shop.” The elderly woman’s face shifted into a smile and she walked back around the counter.
“I’m sorry dear I don’t need any help in here, but if you’d like I could get you a – more- appealing job.” Fredrick moved closer to the counter and gave the woman a questioning look.
“What exactly do you have in mind?” He asked hesitantly.
“I could give you a job that will supply you and your future wife with as much money as you will both need.” She said with a gleam in her eyes.
“How did you know I was planning on getting married” Fredrick asked in a worried tone.
“I’m just good with these things dear. Now we must get to work if you accept my offer you both will be set off nicely. Do you accept?” The woman said while extending her hand.
“What is the catch exactly?” Fredrick asked while looking at the woman’s hand.
“Hmm alright in exchange of you having a wonderful life I want a daughter.” The woman said with a never leaving evil glint in her eyes.
“Daughter?” Fredrick questioned.
“Yes, yes. I have lived so many years without hearing the little patter of feet in my home. If you and your fiancé supply me with a daughter in the next 5 years the riches shall stay. If not then I will just take the gift back, Simple! Now do we have a deal?” The woman said again extending out her hand. Fredrick slowly shook it and the woman cackled out a piercing laugh. “By the way my name is Zelda.” From that point on he never saw the woman again.
ReplyDeleteSince then the couple had a son and Fredrick forgot all about the deal he had with the elderly woman. That is until his son hit his 2nd birthday and the deal was up. The elderly woman appeared in Fredrick’s dream and gave him a clear warning. She said “Either you give me my daughter or you shall feel my wrath!” Fredrick brushed it off and the next day Zelda appeared at the couple’s home with the fierce scowl she held when she first met Fredrick.
“Where is my daughter?” Zelda asked with a look that filled Annabelle and Fredrick’s hearts with fear.
“We never had a girl Ms. Zelda.” Annabelle said while kneeling on the floor.
“Well pay must be made. Did you have any children?” Zelda asked while searching the room. She slowly came upon a sleeping child and looked at it with a smile.
“Who is this? And how old are they?” She demanded.
“That is our son Dylan and he 2 years old.” Annabelle answered. Zelda picked up the sleeping child and started to toward the couple.
“Since you could not supply me with a daughter I will just take your son. Say goodbye to Dylan forever.” Zelda stated while a group of smoke surrounded her. “And please don’t come after him. I wouldn’t want to have to hurt this poor soul.” Zelda left the home in a gust of wind and the couple cried for their child every day. They never gave up hope knowing that one day their son would return to them.
Dylan was 16 when he started wanting to be free. Though he thought of Zelda as his mother he held a strong feeling deep in his heart telling him that she wasn’t his real mother. He started working on this feeling and snuck out often. He liked to go to parties and skate parks just trying to be free. He knew that his mother could track him easily if he went the same track every time so he would take different routes every time he went out. No train station taxi cab or back alley was a mystery for Dylan. One day while out with his friends at the mall he saw a beautiful girl named Jenna. She looked to be someone who could match his wild spirit and seemed to be his other half. He instantly fell in love, but Zelda didn’t approve of her. It wasn’t because of the girl’s personality, but because she was close to Dylan’s true parents and Zelda didn’t want to return him. She warned Dylan multiple times not to talk to the girl, but he never listened.
Feeling fed up Zelda decided to move Dylan out to New Jersey to make sure he was far away from the girl and anyone else who knew of his real family. This didn’t work for long because the girl would always find a way over and they were still together. Zelda had a feeling of this and took out all way of Dylan to get in and out of the 3 story building he had to live in. This didn’t stop Jenna. All she would do was call up to Dylan’s window and say “Dapunzel, Dapunzel let down your extensions!” Then he would drop down a rope made out of scarfs and other items in his house.
ReplyDeleteZelda was angered by this and tried to stop them, but never could. One day Zelda gave up on them and just tried to kill Jenna, but failed. From the fight Zelda was thrown out the window and killed. Dylan and Jenna moved back to New York and reconnected with Dylan’s parents. They all were happy and lived without fear of Zelda coming back. The End!
Ahhhh....I see what you did there!
DeleteWendy and her two younger brothers, John and Michael never really got along. Wendy, the sixteen year old daughter of two Wall Street tycoons, gave little care to the real world demands of growing up. She was so childish at times that John and Michael sometimes referred to her as her baby sister, despite the fact that her age was higher than theirs combined. Her younger brothers, on the other hand, were eager to take on the world. They both dreamed of taking Wall Street by storm, just like their parents did. But unfortunately for them, they were confined to a small town in northern New Jersey, in a house almost ironically placed right next to a huge playground.
ReplyDeleteOne day, the boys were sitting in their room watching Fox news and texting on their brand new iPhones when a grown man in a suit appeared at their window. He placed three staccato knocks on the glass and stood, peering in, clutching his briefcase with his other arm. The boys acknowledged him and he smiled as John approached the window.
“Hello there!” he spoke through the glass.
John proceeded to open the window and greet the clean cut man with dull read hair.
“Hello there!” he repeated with enthusiasm. “Pan is the name. Peter Pan, and I’ve got a feeling you’ll like what I have to offer you.”
The younger of the brothers hopped off the bed to join them at the window. “Ehem, can I help you with something?”
“Certainly not, but I do believe I can help you with something? Are your parents home?”
“No, but we don’t need them. We can certainly take care of ourselves.”
“Well, that’s just great!”
Suddenly, Wendy appeared in the doorway opposite of the window, yet the boys hadn’t noticed her presence.
“I’d like to offer you an opportunity of a lifetime. I’d like to take you to a place like no other: a place where work separates itself from play and where kids are not allowed. I have been watching both of you young men and I believe that you are the perfect candidates for our land. I’ll just need you to sign these waivers.”
As Pan placed his briefcase on the windowsill to retrieve the papers, Wendy began to scream out and cry for her mother. Shrieks of “stranger danger” escaped her mouth. Panicking, the boys sprint over to her and covered her mouth, dragging her to the window and hushing her. Pan took notice of the situation and made a promise to Wendy that if she behaved, he would give her a lollipop, and surely she became as silent as the Arctic in the dead of night.
A deal was made, papers were signed and the two boys were to escape away to Foreverland. An offer as appealing as work and responsibility for the rest of forever was something the young business protégées could not refuse. With bags backed and business suits on their backs, the boys climbed through the windows while Wendy sat and cried silently to herself. Wendy’s cries to her parents about the whereabouts of her younger brothers were construed as a simple kidnapper had come and taken them away for some sick reasoning. The police searched, posters were posted, but nothing was ever found on the location of the Wall Street-raised children. They remained in foreverland forever; nobody can escape the trap of growing up.
