Okay, so what if we did like a picture prompt. Except instead of Kupiec or Ell assigning a photo to us, we pick our own. It would be up to you to write a poem or short story centered around any painting or photograph of your choosing.
write a 20 line poem rhyming every other last word about something that you could go back and change. It could be a historical event or a personal memory.
One more suggestion. You have to write the premise for a modernization of well-known story. For example, the way West Side Story is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Choose any legend, play, fairytale, classical story, etc. and write a summarization of how you would adapt it. This would be a description of the setting, characters and so on using vivid language. Make it at least 200 words. Ja feel?
First Lines/ Last Lines In the corner of the living room was an album of unbearable photos Pictures of her past Pictures of her family She wasn’t in any except part of her head Her new adopted family didn’t like her Like they once said It was a sad unheard story Of a little girl who didn’t know why she was there. Footsteps were heard, she came in. I shut the album and tossed it under the couch She stared and grabbed the album She looked at me and told me a story “I was once a little girl like you.” What happened? “They loved me in front of their friends never alone. They showed me off I was just an accessory At home they kept me locked in a basement for many days, With an ugly fat cat his name was Henry, They never fed me, they never cared Except for one maid she was always there They made me miserable every single day of my childhood They made fun of me because my family was killed.” Tears came out and that was the finale The little unbearable album which she tore with her hands.

ReplyDeleteIn the corner of the living room was an album of unbearable photos
Pictures of her past
Pictures of her family
She wasn’t in any except part of her head
Her new adopted family didn’t like her
Like they once said
It was a sad unheard story
Of a little girl who didn’t know why she was there.
Footsteps were heard, she came in.
I shut the album and tossed it under the couch
She stared and grabbed the album
She looked at me and told me a story
“I was once a little girl like you.”
What happened?
“They loved me in front of their friends never alone.
They showed me off I was just an accessory
At home they kept me locked in a basement for many days,
With an ugly fat cat his name was Henry,
They never fed me, they never cared
Except for one maid she was always there
They made me miserable every single day of my childhood
They made fun of me because my family was killed.”
Tears came out and that was the finale
The little unbearable album
which she tore with her hands.

ReplyDeleteThis seems very promising.
DeleteIf you had to go back in the past to change one mistake, what would it be?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really liked when we did that "what's in a face?" assignment. So, we should do that again.
