Perfect Location

Think of the most beautiful and/or interesting place you’ve ever been to and then set a story there. It doesn’t have to be the exact place (i.e. Tahoe, Vegas, Yellowstone, etc.) it can be a place that only exists in your mind, or even a place you’ve only seen before in pictures. Be creative, feel free to set any scene there, and remember– the only limits are the limits you impose on your own creativity. Another way to interpret this assignment is to picture your own personal heaven.
Due at the end of the period - 300 words.

  1. I look around me and I see my family. Not my biological family, but the family that I chose for myself. We are loud, rambunctious and to an outsider, we would seem hostile to each other. We are often insulting each other and arguing but you will only see smiles on our faces. Every insult is a paved road for the incoming compliment. Every argument is us allowing each other to be ourselves. We understand each other better than most people. We understand that sometimes yelling is the only way to release all of the pent up emotions. When one of us gets to that yelling point, we let them because we understand. When we suffer a loss, there is no limit to the hugs that will be passed around. When it comes to hugs, they are rarely rejected…no matter what the circumstance is. When one of us is happy, the smile only becomes contagious. We are sitting in a basement, it doesn't matter whose it is because we are together. The video systems are hot and the tension is rising. 2k14 NBA has never been more serious. The only girls are versing each other; all the gentlemen have chosen sides and have declared themselves as the proper coach. There’s yelling and shoving but also ear-to-ear smiles on every face. The room is a mess of empty chips bags, plastic cups, and dirty napkins from spills. There are shoes strewn everywhere and even a couple socks…it explains the gym-locker smell. The aroma of sweat is in the air so a towel is being passed around to wipe brows. Smells from the cooking dinner find their way to the basement and mix with all the other aromas. The Mother-In-Rotation is making a feast, what else is she expected to do in order to feed our army of eight? When the food’s ready, she yells down and no one hesitates to pause the game. One by one we grab a plate, fill it up and take a seat (only a couple dig in before everyone is sitting). There is no prayer but a chorus of thanks to the Mother-In-Rotation! As we eat, we laugh and yell and offer more food to each other. Among us, one can always find happiness-as well a slew of other emotions- but mostly happiness. The most beautiful place, real or unreal, is a place where happiness can be found.

  2. A place that is perfectly perfect in my head is a place like the one we think heaven in like. We always see in the movies where they show how heaven would be like, but we see it as a place that’s fictional but if heaven were really like that, I think I’d love it. Examples of a perfect heaven how the type we see on movies is walking on clouds, the sunset everywhere you look, perfectly shaped trees, warm summer weather and cool breeze that cools you down if you get too hot, a place that just seems magical that nothing in this world can actually beat. I’d love to be in a place where I can just be myself with no one to bother me or tell me what to do or nag about things I shouldn’t and should do. A perfect place to me would be just living with inner peace and I think a place like this would definitely bring inner peace to me. I picture just sitting in a magical like place and laying anywhere I like and not have a worry in the world or think that I have things to do or responsibilities to complete. I love chocolate and a perfect place for me would be having a bakery and ice cream shop that makes perfect chocolate cakes and delicious ice cream. There are two people that I would allow into my perfect imaginary place other than my family, and those two people are my boyfriend and my best friend whom I’ve known for many years now. There are very few people that bring genuine happiness and being in a place like the one I’ve described, and being with the people that bring most happiness to me would be the most beautiful place and interesting place I could be in.

  3. A bright sunny warm day, is how I started everyday waking up to. Every morning I look out my hotel window down upon Venice Beach. Looking down upon a peaceful beach, seeing no one, but the birds flying around and the calm water moving back and forth, every day I get up and take a walk on the beach before to many people get there. Taking a walk removes all the stress from life and creates a peaceful start to my day. I smile at the people that walk and run by me, to share the happiness. I could not be more happier than to walk down the beach having the water hit my legs and be peaceful. Everyday was sunny, no dark clouds, no rain, and no storms to destroy the beautiful place. Being able to spend the afternoons and nights with the people I love makes my life perfect. Nothing could be more perfect. Life is great, I'm happy, I'm with the people I love everyday, and I get to look down of Venice Beach every morning. No one can take away the happiness, I can only believe life never ends with the perfect days. Summer all year, looking at the sunrise and the sunset over the beach, laying on the beach enjoying every minute, there was no limit to it. Loving life, enjoying every minute of life like I should be, and concurring everything in life that I can. This life gives me no limits, the beach is my stress reviler, my happiness only begins here as I look over the beach everyday, the peacefulness gives me a smile. Knowing I have my own happiness. My mind wonders as I walk the beach everyday, but never thinks what it would be like if I never saw this place.

  4. There are countless numbers of trees. Birds are chirping from upon secluded branches. A crash of water, as a fish is pushed down stream and into an open lake. I sit beside my friends, my family, and I feel at ease. A sense of comfort- security takes over my being. Night begins to fall upon us, but the laughs still continue. As we sit around a fire, toasting marshmallows and telling jokes, it is as if we are the only people around. The Delaware Water Gap, one of my most favorite places to be. The outdoors, the nature, the scenery- it all has a blissful effect on me. To wander aimlessly, without destination or limits, gives one a sense of freedom. Each year in about the middle of August, I journey down to this camping site with my friends and family, and for a whole weekend, I am at peace. Being out in the open surrounded by loved ones is honestly the best feeling. The Delaware Water Gap is beautiful, it is peaceful, and it is full of adventure and excitement. The nature, along with the secluded environment is what makes this place so enticing to me. It is just a great feeling to wake up in the morning, unzip from your tent, and have nothing to do or worry about. I think the reason I like this place so much is because of the freedom, along with the absence of schedule, time or worries. Without these components, it makes it much easier to relax and enjoy yourself. If I could spend an entire summer here, or in a similar place, I would not think twice about it. I think that nature is the most interesting, and most beautifully pure thing that this world has to offer. It is flawless.

  5. The waters are blue and crisp. The waves crash slowly against the shoreline. The sand is soft and warm underneath my feet and I feel all my troubles slip away. This is what I needed.
“Jared?” The serenity could only last for so long.
“Yes Harold, my darling disruptive brother, what is it?” I asked not bothering to turn my eyes to his direction.
“Do you want to go see the waterfall?” He asked standing next to me, rocking on his heels.
“Where exactly is this waterfall?” I asked casting a skeptical glance at my brother.
“You would have to follow me to find out.” He smiled brightly, almost bouncing now. I sighed and then looked back out to the waters.
“You’re going to bother me until I follow you, aren’t you?” I asked studying how the sun reflects off the water into small shimmers.
“You know me to well, Jar-Jar.” He chuckled, returning back to rocking.
“Alright, show me.” I gave causing him to cheer and start running in the opposite direction.
“It’s this way!” He called back to me and I reluctantly turned around following him to god knows where.
    *************************************************************************************
“We’re almost there.” Harold said pushing back a few more branches.
“Okay Harold we have been walking for about 10 minutes now” I snarled getting annoyed. “I have stepped in mud, gotten my face beaten by branches, and bitten by at least 3 different types of mosquitos.”
“I told you to put on some bug spray.” He muttered hopping over another puddle of mud.
“Yeah, after we were already 5 minutes in!” I yelled swatting another bug away from my face. “I swear this better be worth it!”
“We’re here!” He shouted running forward into an opening. I followed slowly and felt my jaw touch the ground. This place was beyond beautiful; it was literally a safe haven from the rest of the world around us. All around was just green and smack dab in the center was a large body of water that was filled by a towering waterfall. Animals sat in serenity and birds flew above communicating sweetly.
“So was it worth the walk?” Harold asked poking me in the side.
“Definitely!” I yelled while running into the water.

  6. For three consecutive summers, I spent two months in Lloret de Mar, a tourist hotspot on the coast of Spain, with my brothers to visit my dad. It is definitely the most beautiful and interesting place I have ever been to and hope to visit again soon. The atmosphere there is so relaxed and carefree, a complete change from what I am accustomed to here in Jersey. In Lloret I feel genuinely happy, mainly because it is a change from the norms of daily life and I have the ability to have so much fun, try new things, and just relax. I also got the opportunity to experience an entirely different lifestyle and meet all types of diverse people. Aside from the local residents, the tourists are from Italy, Poland, Greece, Brazil, Portugal and so many other different parts of the world that there is always someone new to talk to and something new to learn about. There is such diversity in the people and cultures and a great variety in the customs that I do not often encounter here. Listening to the variations in their languages and seeing differences between them and the people in America is so fascinating. The scenery there is also completely breathtaking, it is so beautiful. I would often go on walks around the beach, into the caves and climb rocks, visit castles and old forts, to take pictures and simply explore something new. The trips to Lloret also strengthened the bond I share with my brothers, we had each other to rely on and share the experiences with especially since we were away from our mom. Lloret holds some of my favorite but also some of my worst memories. The vacations there helped me grow as a person and helped me learn a lot about myself, they made me strengthen the relationship with my brothers and also allowed me to make new friendships, which is my ideal perfect location.
